Description
Qareeb is a Ramadan companion and community food-charity project built to help people find useful local updates and coordinate community support. It was used by more than 100 people during Ramadan. The public repository contains the project code, but not the production code or infrastructure.
The problem it set out to address
Ramadan brings communities together around food, events, and charitable support. Qareeb was shaped as a real-time community resource rather than a generic directory: a place for people to find updates and coordinate around local needs.
Product areas
- Community events, catering services, and Markaz updates.
- Public requests with administrative review and approval.
- Role-based access for different community management responsibilities.
- Ramadan companion features, calendar and Quran resources, and local updates.
Implementation
The repository describes an Angular 18 frontend with a Flask API, SQLAlchemy models, and PostgreSQL or SQLite for data storage. Authentication and role-based access are handled by the backend.
